Industrial Descaling Agents

When minerals and other materials, typically in water, but other fluids as well, are left behind due to heat evaporation or other factors such as pH and hardness, it often produces a buildup of mineral deposits. An industrial descaler is a chemical agent that removes, clears, or dissolves various scale and mineral deposits from equipment. Different from cleaners due to their capability to remove mineral buildup and not only oil residue, descaling chemicals are versatile for industrial applications and can replace mechanical and other scale removal processes.

What Chemicals Are Used in Commercial Descalers?

Common industrial descaling agents often utilize harsh acids buffered by corrosion inhibitors. There can be various acids present in commercial descalers, such as:

  • Acetic acid
  • Citric acid
  • Glycolic acid
  • Formic acid
  • Lactic acid
  • Phosphoric acid
  • Sulfamic acid
  • Hydrochloric acid

These acids and/or products can be hazardous and corrosive to equipment and personnel. They also have other factors to consider, such as safety, handling, and waste.

Industrial Descaler STSR Benefits Over Other Descalers

Industrial descaling agents may use harsh or hazardous chemicals, but Scale Remover STSR is non-corrosive and non-hazardous for scale removal solutions. Highly effective at removing struvite, vivianite, limescale, calcium carbonate, rust, and other scale types, Scale Remover STSR is safe to handle and can even be exposed to unbroken skin.

Scale Remover STSR can be used for descaling, buildup prevention dosing, and scale control. STSR is an environmentally friendly, biodegradable, cost-effective option. We can also custom-formulate Scale Remover STSR with other compounds, such as thickeners or foaming solutions, for specialized descaling agents designed to meet your requirements.

What are Industrial Descaler Chemicals Used for?

Industrial scale removers can be deployed using a range of methods, including recirculation, standstill soaks, spray, and foam. Recirculation is considered the most effective and efficient because it agitates the scale to break the chemical bonds of buildup, which is ideal for line and pump applications. Standstill soaks are also utilized for pumps and can remove buildup for tanks and containers. Low-pressure spray and foam applications dissolve scale in hard-to-reach places and are also great for belt filter presses, centrifuges, walls, and surfaces. Industries benefitting from applications of commercial descalers include, but are not limited to:
